
Financial Planner
This course prepares students for employment in the field of financial planning. Students participating in the course will acquire an understanding of the concepts and applications associated with financial calculations and the analysis of financial statements, as well as develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications related to risk management and retirement planning.
They will gain an in-depth knowledge of the processes required to work as an assistant personal financial advisor, assistant financial planner or assistant investment advisor. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to provide investment and financial advice about CIG's, stocks, mutual funds, RRSP'S, RESP's, Tax Free Savings Accounts and other investments.
In addition, students will learn software applications, word processing, spreadsheets and business communication skills that are an asset to any position.
Course Outcome:
Upon successful completion of this course student will be able to:
- Assist Financial Planners, Personal Banking Officers, Investment Brokers and Advisors
- Develop personal financial plans for clients covering cash management and finances
- Analyze clients financial records and prepare financial plans
- Assist clients in making wise and profitable financial choices
- Set goals and develop financial strategies
- Assist in arranging sales of financial products and investments (depending on license)
- Monitor client portfolio to ensure quality and profitability
- Review and change the financial plans based on the clients situation
- Prepare business documents, letters and memorandums
- Promote financial products and services
- Provide financial and other information to clients

Graduates of this program will be able to find entry level work in positions such as, Assistant to Financial Planners, Assistant to Personal Financial Advisors, Assistant to Investment Advisors.
