
Customer Service Representatives - Banking and Financial Services
This course prepares students for employment in the field of banking and financial services. Students participating in this course will learn essential computer, financial and professional skills. They will gain an in-depth knowledge of the processes required to work as an assistant advisor, assistant financial planner or banking officer within the financial sector or to start their own business.
Upon completion, students will be able to process cash deposits and withdrawals, process cheque and credit card payments, generate money orders and certified cheques, open accounts, sell travelers cheques, balance daily transactions using calculators and computer programs, prepare customer statements and answer customer inquiries and provide investment and financial advice.
In addition, students will learn software applications, word processing and spreadsheets, as well as valuable business communication skills which are an asset to any position.
Course Outcome:
Upon successful completion of this course student will be able to:

Graduates of this program will be able to start their career in trust companies, banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions. They will be able to work in entry level positions as Bank Tellers, Financial Customer Service Representatives, Assistant to Financial Planners, Assistant to Personal Banking Officers, Assistant to Insurance Brokers and Assistant to Investment Brokers and Advisors. With little work experience, graduates will be able to work as Financial Planner, Personal Banking Officer, Insurance Broker and Investment Broker and Advisor.
